Revolution is ... ummm ... well, you know
When

Details
The term "Revolution" is being invoked in our society when the appeal to
strong emotions and predefined patterns of thinking is needed. The radical
movement itself talks about this event or time and often the assumption is that
we all should know what it means. However, once we dig deeper we can see that
not only our perspective of how to go about to start the revolution is
different, but our very definitions are quite subjective.
This symposium of London Anarchist Forum will allow for different views of
what is "Revolution" to be expressed, and to discuss how to move forward with
the different (complimentary as well as opposing) definitions.
If you wish to ensure that your views are heard, please write a short paper
(5-10 minutes speaking time) on the subject, people who have prepared the paper
will be given first chance to express themselves, with the open discussion for
all who will show up.
Feel free to challenge assumptions!

Tim Pendry, former organiser of the Grassroots Alliance within the Labour Party and now independent, argues that the current crisis offers a unique opportunity for anarchist ideas to enter the mainstream as a much wider libertarian challenge to a State proven to be greedy and incompetent.
Unfortunately, many 'anarchists' are still navel-gazers with a view of the human condition that is out-dated. With centralised state socialism becoming discredited even in its reform model, anarchism could lose the moment. Tim challenges anarchists to create new political strategies alongside their direct action successes.

DEEP EQUALITY - Anarchism in everyday life
Jocelyn Chaplin
This talk, based on Jocelyn's new book Deep Equality(O-books.net), explores the links between hierarchical structures of society and thinking and psychological problems. She describes an alternative structure/paradigm based on the theory of equalizing rhythms. Jocelyn shows how the new paradigm can be danced with in daily life, and on street protests, as well as at carnivals and raves.
Jocelyn Chaplin is a psychotherapist, a pagan, feminist, anarchist and a member of the Dionysian Underground. Her other books include 'Love in an Age of Uncertainty'. (Aquarian Press).

ROMM EB1 1pm-2pm
Two Faces of Anarchy?
What motivates your commitment to anarchism? Are we seekers of liberty with noble aims as many idealists like to view themselves, or reactionary victims of society eaten up with resentment and hate as our critics have sometimes charged. Steve Ash argues that an element of both may be true with either extreme being dangerous.
